Body Mass Index

What is Body Mass Index ( BMI ) ? Why is it  necessary to maintain for healthy body ?

BMI stands for Body Mass Index.  This index measure t.the weight and obesity, according to the weight, age and height . 
BMI can be calculated  with simple math by using inches and pounds or meters and kg.

Exemple:

let us say, your weigh is 85kg and Height is 5 feet 6 inches. Now according to above formula of BMI you need to convert your Height  5 f 6” into meters. That is, as under

5 x 12* = 60 inches. Total Height in inches is 66   ( * 1 feet= 12 inches )

Now, convert inches into centimeters, 66 x 2.54*cm =167.64 cm ( * 1 inches =2.54 cm)

convert 167.68 or 168 cm  into meters, as 168/100* = 1.68 m  ( 100 cm = 1 m)

Now, your Height is 1.68 m and weight is 85 kg. Now , according to above given BMI formula, your BMI will be  85/1.68 x 1.68 = 30.14.

Your BMI, 30.14 found in obese category, so you have unhealthy body mass. You need to get your weight down to normal level.

Obesity is defined as an excessively high amount of body fat or adipose tissue in relation to lean body mass, whereas overweight refers to increased body weight in relation to height.
Obesity is the mother of diseases .It generates many diseases.

Obesity often  increases the risk of heart disease because of its negative effect on blood lipid levels, which increase  higher levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein – which is also known as LDL or “bad cholesterol” – as well as lower levels of high-density lipoprotein-known as HDL or “good cholesterol.” in the blood.
